A Dream Designed Wedding Washington, DC
Matilda & Stephen's DC Destination Wedding at the beautiful Omni Shoreham Hotel
Planning for Matilda and Stephen was a pleasure. Her final year at Berkeley made Matilda's schedule as hectic as mine, coupled by her travel schedule bouncing between, Paris, Asia, California, and Maryland. Although modern technology truly allows me to plan destination weddings from anywhere, and with a little creative scheduling I am able to easily avoid the collision of time zones. Once we started planning things came together very quickly.

For the couples reception the Versailles elements were pulled in through the tablescape. I drew from the Versailles Hall of Mirrors that I had the pleasure to experience during my February visit to Paris. I wanted to include the magnificence of all the crystal, yet use this in a modern way. I do so with a with a mix of glass vessels and modern crystal candelabras for the centerpieces. It was important to balance the light colors and Crystal with opulence of the the gold from the ceiling and statues. Additionally, I wanted to portray the rich textures of the fabric used in Versailles. Being a summer wedding we opted for a ruffled texture, organza ivory linen as opposed to the heavy fabrics used at Versailles. This gave us a regal look and texture yet allowed for the lighter fabric and color pallet. For the gold I brought in some magnificent gold glass chargers which pulled the entire table together. |
